New to Church?

welcomenewtochurch
Welcome! At some point all of us would have been new to a church or just church in general. Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about your visit to the Church.

Some key information about the church...

Where does the church meet?

We meet at:

St Mary's Parish Church
Church Lane
Linton
Cambridge CB21 4JX

You can see a map on our contact us page

There is limited parking available on the site. Being a good neighbour means that we limit ourselves to using a turning circle by the church gate to drop people off. There is a public car park next to the health centre in Coles Lane, less than five minutes walk away.

When does the church meet?

Details of our normal service times can be seen on our home page.

What should I expect when I visit the church?

You will receive a warm welcome, particularly from our Sidespersons who meet you at the door. They will be able to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go.  You will be offered a hymn book and service sheet. You don't need to take them, many don't because they rely on the screen content, but some find it easier to follow the book and service sheet.  The service follows a printed order which can also be seen on the big screen. There will be singing with opportunity for church members to pray, hear a passage read from the bible and listen to a message preached on it. Most Sundays will have Holy Communion as part of the service. We finish with notices and then coffee and a chat in the pavilion just outside. This provides plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.

What happens to the children at church?

We have all been children and many of us have had children and we all enjoy having them present (whatever the noise level!) - they are just as important to us and to God as anyone else. Children generally stay with their parents during the service. There is a space dedicated to children, with books and craft activities.  In addition Messy Church takes place on the 3rd Sunday of the month at 3pm, either in church or the village hall. Contact us to find out more.

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes. We do!

Will I have to join in?

Not at all!
You are free to simply observe or participate as much as you feel comfortable with. If you're not sure what is likely to be going on at any particular point sit in the middle of the church so that you can follow what others around you are doing.
